Biennial Conference

ACSUS is pleased to host its 19th Biennial meeting in Toronto November 14-18, 2007. To recognize the occasion, we have adopted a special focus, Exemplar for the 21st Century: Toronto, Ontario, Canada to profile the diversity, dynamism, and progressive attitude of Canada and its cities and provinces.
The biennial conference provides a multidisciplinary forum for scholarly discussion as well as a venue for networking with colleagues from throughout the United States, Canada, and the world. The conference presents an opportunity for academics and other professionals involved in the study of Canada to present their research to peers, to learn about new developments in Canadian studies, to hear prominent Canadians, and to visit with publishers of books and periodicals relating to Canada and Canada-U.S. relations.
Border Regions in Transition (BRIT)

On January 12 - 15, 2008, the Border Policy Research Institute will co-host the BRIT IX Conference with the University of Victoria. The conference theme is "North American and European Border Regions in Comparative Perspective: Markets, States, Border Communities and Security." The conference seeks to bring together international scholars who have been researching borderlands and border security issues, offering a unique occasion for those scholars to discuss the current implications of new security measures on borders, border regions, borderland culture, economic transactions, transportation systems, and the border regimes of both the EU and the NAFTA nations.
